Luxury Boarding Cattery, Norfolk
Telephone 01263 861948 or email
At Country Cats of Briston (near Holt and Fakenham), North Norfolk, we offer cat owners a unique luxury boarding cattery to leave your feline friend while you are away.
We are approved by the Feline Advisory Bureau (FAB) as one of their Listed Catteries, at present one of only four in Norfolk. This means that we have had to meet their high requirements for cattery management, and are open to inspection by them at any time, so you can be assured that our standards are always maintained. To see more of what FAB do, and to see our listing, visit www.fabcats.org.
Karen (the owner) is currently undertaking a Cat Behaviour Course run by CIDBT, the tutor being Roger Tabor, a world authority on cats and writer of many books on cat behaviour (as well as working on the BBC TV series on Cats).

We spend plenty of time with the cats to make sure that they settle in well, particularly if they are nervous or timid, and if they are happy to be groomed, we will take the time to give them a brush as well!
The cabins are thoroughly cleaned each day and litter trays disinfected. During the day the litter trays are regularly checked and cleaned as required.
During your cat’s stay, and for your reassurance, we are happy to text or e-mail you to let you know how your cat is, and you may of course call us at any time.
Apart from being a FAB listed cattery, we are licensed by North Norfolk District Council and are fully insured.
If you would like any additional information or would like to inspect the cattery please do not hesitate to give us a ring - 01263 861948.
Accommodation
The accommodation consists of 16 luxury cabins set in our peaceful and secure garden which is overlooked by our home. The cabins have a full size well insulated heated sleeping apartment and an exercise run where the cats can play with the toys or relax on the ledges. With the latest edition of a fish pond and numerous bird feeders the cats have plenty of wildlife to watch.
The UPVC cabins provide a clean and hygienic environment for your cat’s stay and all cabins are fully cleaned and disinfected between occupancies. Scratch posts, baskets and warm fleecy beddings are supplied but owners are more than welcome to bring their cat’s bedding and toys to remind them of home and help settle them in.
For added security, there is a safety passage between the outside world and the exercise run in each pen, which means that one door is closed before another is opened, so the cats cannot escape. In addition, each of the front doors to the cabins are individually locked. The premises are occupied 24-hours a day and have the benefit of a CCTV system.
Feeding
We only supply the best quality wet food and biscuits and try to ensure that the food offered is the same as you give your cat at home. If allowed, they can have daily treats including fresh chicken or fish, all of which is prepared in our separate cat kitchen. Special diets can be catered for, usually at no additional cost and although prescription diets can be maintained during your cat’s stay we would request that you bring this food with you.
Regular meal-times are adhered to and biscuits are supplied throughout the day. Adult cats are fed wet food twice a day whereas kittens, seniors, or special cases are fed according to their requirements.
Health
Unfortunately, male cats over the age of 7-months which have not been neutered cannot be boarded with us, as they can present an infection hazard.
Only fully vaccinated cats (immunized against feline infectious enteritis and respiratory infections (cat flu) can be accepted for boarding, and owners must produce a current vaccination certificate on arrival, which will be retained by us during your cat’s stay. Please ensure your cat’s regular flea and worming treatments are up to date.
No cat suffering from or suspected to be suffering from any infectious or contagious disease can be accepted. All cats will be examined on arrival and the proprietors reserve the right to refuse admission to any cat showing signs of ill-health pending advice from a Veterinary Surgeon.
Should your cat require any special care or medication this should be discussed upon booking, but in most cases we will be happy to continue with any treatment prescribed during your cat’s stay provided full instructions are supplied.
Veterinary attendance is assured during your cat’s stay should this prove necessary. Owners are responsible for any veterinary bills incurred by their cats whilst in residence – payment of which mustbe settled on collection.
